"I Called Him Morgan"

Your happiness is my happiness! 😇😇😇

That's it for my April Fools' joke. 😆😆😆

I'm about to watch a super interesting movie 🎥 "I Called Him Morgan," the documentary of the extraordinary jazz trumpeter, Lee Morgan, and his wife. The way he died was quite extraordinary as well. He was shot and killed by his wife at a gig. I always wanted to know what was going on between two of them.

Kong: Skull Island!!

Good morning, 😃

This morning, I shaved my head not with an electric hair clipper but a shaver. It feels sooooo good!

Right-O, I'm about to watch Kong: Skull Island! 🐵 It's 3D!! It just came out yesterday! Do you guys know that they are already making the sequel of this movie, Godzilla vs. Kong. This is like my dream comes true. Ha-ha-ha!!

Friends, have a wonderful day! 😆👍

(Post Script) If you are going to watch it, you MUST stay after the end roll!! There is an important little segment after the end roll!

12 hours of movie watching!!

Ever since I moved to LA, I have been trying to do whatever I have never done in my life. Today I'm going to the event to watch five Oscar-nominated movies back to back, that are Moonlight, Lion, Hacksaw Ridge, Arrival, and Hidden Figures.

I really want to get a piece of movie industry in Hollywood so I thought it's important for me to check out these famous movies. Well, it goes for 12 hours. I must say I am regretting a little bit before I'm going in....

Surprisingly the theater is packed up. Hey, everyone in the theater, it's a 12-hour event. What were you guys thinking! People are crazy as me!😆

(Post Script) Twelve & half hours. I concurred. Oh boy, all five were life-changing wonderful films! Since I have been reading lots of great books lately, I should start watching great movies!

La La Land!

It's stormy weather in LA today!😆 Ha-ha.☂️

I had to come to the town right next to where I live before the storm hits, and since I'm really close to a cheap movie theater in the town, what the heck, I decided to watch a movie to cheer myself up in this gloomy weather! 🎥 I'm finally watching La La Land!

Martin Scorsese's Silence

I just finished reading the novel "Silence" by Shusaku Endo. After about 30 pages in, I realized that I’ve read it when I was in high school, but what the heck, I read through all 300 pages anyway.

Of course I read the original novel to watch Martin Scorsese’s movie. I was surprised that the evil lord was played by Issei Ogata who is actually a famous comedian! I guess because of the fact that I know how funny he is, so his funniness amplified that role’s craziness and scariness in me. I think I could feel that more than other audiences in the theater. Good to be born and raised in Japan. It was a good movie. It was a super heavy movie but good.

(This is not a spoiler but a little behind-the-scene story about the original novel for the fellow bookworms: When Shusaku Endo was writing this novel, he was projecting himself not in Rodorigo, the main character, but in Kichijiro, the traitor. I thought that was very interesting)

Princess Mononoke: 20th Anniversary!

Came to watch Princess Mononoke: 20th anniversary! The first time I watched it was when I was still in a college and watched it on VHS! 🤣

(Postscript)
I watched English-dubbed version and they really have to redo the translation. Because of the mis-translation and mis-interpretation, the story became much shallower than the original Japanese version! Argh!

Star Wars: Rogue One!

Star Wars: Rogue One! IMAX 3D!!
😆😆😆

I've waited long time for this! Ha-ha-ha!! This is the story about right before Episode 4!! In the very beginning of Episode 4, the opening crawl says “The Rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire’s ultimate weapon, the DEATH STAR,” and this is the story about stealing the blueprint of Death Star risking their lives!

Sprited Away: 15th Anniversary Celebration!

Spirited Away: 15th Anniversary Celebration!🎉 Special screenings for just three days, and I was able to catch the last screening! I think that was the first time for me to watch the English dubbed version!

Aaaaaaa, that was sooooo really good! This kind of good movies make all the stresses in real life blow away to somewhere. Japanese animations are the best! 😆👍🇯🇵

Screenings of Princess Mononoke are coming up next month!

Of course I'm going to come back next week for the spin-off of Star Wars!

Kubo and the two strings!

This is the best second run cinema place! Only a couple of bucks for a flick! 😆👍 I wanna come here everyday! I just watched the animation movie about shamisen, Kubo and the two strings!

The main reason why I moved to LA was that I wanted to find recording jobs in Hollywood playing shamisen or sanshin, so the sound track of this movie with shamisen on it is exactly the gig I am zeroing in. I couldn't stop thinking of how I could take over the shamisen player's place while I was watching it. Then what the professional musician like me naturally think next is how much compensations I can get doing this kind of gigs.

Oh no! 🙈 I wasn't really watching this movie with such a touching story and was just counting the chickens before they are hatched! I polluted my mind with money and became a materialistic weasel. I feel so dirty myself!

The Revenant!

Came to kinda deserted mall by a shipyard. Wow, even the shipyard is deserted. Like an impulse buying, I suddenly decided to impulse-watch a movie! Ha-ha, coming to a movie theater in the daytime in weekdays is the perks of musicians. Well, I'll enjoy life as much as possible while I'm not touring!

The Revenant, here we come! The new DiCaprio's movie!
