Museum of Fine Arts, Boston

　ずーっと来たかったボストン美術館にようやく来れました。ボストンはそれこそ毎週行っているのですが、ここには来れなかった理由があるのでございます。それはひとえに、この美術館は『水曜日の４時以降はタダで入れる』というシステムにございます。普通に入ると２０ドルかかるのに、水曜の夜ならタダ。それなら水曜に来たいのが人情じゃありませんか。しかし水曜にボストンにいて、しかも夜に仕事がない日など全くなく、タイミングを合わせようと待つこと５年、一平はこの日ようやくここに帰ってこれたと言うわけでございます。心の声が『そんなに待つのならとっとと２０ドル払わんかい』と私にツッコミを入れますが、ま、とりあえず来ることができたのだから良いではないですか。はっはっは。

I came to where I wanted to come for a long time; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Yes, I go to Boston almost every week and why didn't I come this museum sooner? I can explain. Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) offers free admission after 4pm on Wednesday and, although I have been in Boston a lot, I have hardly ever been in Boston on Wednesday and even if I were in Boston on Wednesday which is very rare, I always had gigs at night. Maybe you are saying the same thing as my inner voice had been saying, "Pay 20 bucks for admission and just get over it." Well, 20 bucks is 20 bucks...... This is why I had not been able to come back.... for five years.

　そうそう、見たことはなかったのですが、楽器コレクションのコーナーも小さい部屋ながらできてました。世界中の楽器でけっこう古い楽器やいわゆる『キワ物』の楽器もありました。私も弾く楽器もありましたよ。1820年製の三味線や、こんな三弦のコントラバスもありました。

Oh yes, I had never seen but there was the musical instrument collection at the museum. New and old, the ones look familiar and the ones not so much, from inside and outside of the US. There were the instruments I play as well. Here are Shamisen from 1820 and three-string contrabass.

　数々の素晴らしい美術品を鑑賞できて、一平、至福の時を過ごすことができました。ちなみに私のお目当てはこれでございました。

　どうせまた５年ぐらい来ないのだろうから、この石像をじっと５分ほどまばたきせずに凝視して、目に焼き付けてきました。

　とにかく素晴らしい美術館です。皆さんもボストンにきたら是非行ってみて下さい。

I had a wonderful time in here and enjoyed huge collection of artworks and archeological artifacts. There is one artwork/artifacts I really admire.

King Menkaure (Mycerinus) and queen

I don't have a good eye for art or anything but I enjoyed this one a lot. I knew that I was not coming back any time soon so I locked on to this artwork, didn't blink for five minutes and burnt it on my pupil.

MFA is just a wonderful museum. If you come to Boston, you have got to go to MFA.
