今日からアメリカではメモリアル・デー・ウィークエンドで３連休に入ります。私は今日と明日の２日間ボストンで仕事です。朝５時にニューヨークを出発してボストンに向かいました。
It's the beginning of three-day Memorial day weekend in America. I have gigs in Boston on next couple of days so I left New York about 5 a.m. and headed to Boston.

今日のギグはバー・ミツヴァーというユダヤ教の１３歳の誕生日を祝う儀式です。ユダヤ教では１３歳で成人とみなされるそうで、なんだか昔の日本の元服みたいです。ちなみに元服は基本的に１４歳、数えで１５歳で行われてました。
Today's gig was Bar Mitzvah of one of Slava's students. Bar Mitzvah is held on the 13th birthday and interestingly Genpuku, which was the coming-of-age ceremony in ancient Japan, was held on the 14th birthday.
