Memorial service (International String Trio) @ Sarah Neuman Center

Today's gig was the job I have been rarely hired for; the memorial service at an elderly home in Westchester, NY. That was the service for an 84-year-old lady and one of the tunes we were requested was the first dance at her wedding. I play about 50 weddings a year and play first dance for maybe half of them, that means I have played 200 first dances for 400 people by now. Many of those 400 people will remember the tune for the first dance as their fond memory, and some of those 400 will choose the very same tune for the farewell. I re-recognized how important my job is.
